A 19-year-old scrap metal scavenger, Mohammed Bello, is in custody of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos for allegedly stabbing a generator repairer, Taiwo Falola, to death during an argument over the sale of rabbits in Abbatoir area of Agege, Lagos. The police said Falola, who reared the rabbits, got into an argument with Bello when he refused to sell his baby rabbits. Bello allegedly inflicted a three-inch injury on Falola’s neck, causing the deceased to bleed and die before he could even get to the hospital where he was rushed to. The deceased’s uncle, Mutiu Adebayo, told our correspondent that one of Falola’s friends rushed to their house that Saturday, on July 4, 2015, and told him Falola had got into an argument and had been stabbed. “We went to the police division at Abattoir and we were told he had been taken to hospital. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the immediate past Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency [NIMASA], Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, two weeks after he was fired from his post. According to PREMIUM TIMES Mr. Akpobolokemi was arrested in Lagos Thursday morning and was detained at the Lagos office of the EFCC in the Ikoyi area of the city. “He was taken in this morning around 10 a.m.,” the NIMASA insider said. “Some of our other officials have also been summoned while EFCC operatives have been conducting discreet investigation here. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC says the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have commenced petroleum production after some in-house engineers conducted a nine-month rehabilitation on both facilities. The oil corporation announced this in a statement released by its General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr Ohi Alegbe yesterday. The statement in part reads “What this means is that both plants have resumed production of petroleum products. For now, about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day production capacity is being achieved, but it is projected that it will hit its installed 125,000 barrels per day capacity soon,” The statement added that the Port Harcourt refinery would eventually hit five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.

At least 14 people were killed this morning July 26th after a bomb went off in a market in Damaturu, Yobe state. Over 50 people were seriously injured in the blast. A female suicide bomber blew herself up just at the entrance of the crowded Sunday market around 9.30 this morning. The wounded have been taken to the hospital. A doctor has lost his license to practice medicine after being drunk on the job and abandoning a woman in labor to have sex with a hospital patient, according to the New Mexico Medical Board. Dr. Christopher Driskill, an OB-GYN, kept a personal stash of liquor hidden in his office. It is also alleged that the 42-year-old doctor, who is married and a father of four children, prescribed medication to a sexual partner. He was drunk while writing lewd notes in medical records. A man was arrested and charged with murder for killing his father and dismembering his body. The 27-year-old man of the United Kingdom, killed his father who weighed about 350 pounds, and then dismembered his body and neatly packaged it into a plastic box which he used as a TV stand, a court has heard. Nathan Robinson is accused of using a knife to kill his father, William Spiller, 48, who worked as a taxi driver. He then dismembered his father’s body in the apartment they shared in Bournemouth, Dorset. Robinson has denied murder, but admitted to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility. Prosecutor Nigel Lickley said that Robinson killed his father during a dispute over money.Therefore, I believe that when his body was cut and dismembered, it took time and effort,” Lickley said. A man beat a form of deadly cancer by infecting himself with HIV, doctors Pennsylvania said. 29-year-old Marshall Jensen of Utah, fought an aggressive form of leukemia with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Jensen of Woods Cross, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, several years ago. During the past three years, Jensen and his family have traveled around the U.S., trying various surgeries and treatments for his leukemia. At some point, Jensen met with Dr. Carl June and his team of researchers at Penn Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Their treatment involved a disabled version of the HIV virus, which retains an essential feature, the ability to insert new genes into cells.
